Hey everyone! I hope that this finds you all happy and healthy. We are happy here at the Longest household, just not too healthy. The girls have been fighting a cold for about 2 weeks if not longer. I had strep a little over a month ago and Matt has been having issues with his feet and legs again! Man, I cannot wait for spring to get here!!! On a happier note, the girls are getting so big. As I posted in a previous blog, Nora is the average height of a 5 year old, and Gretchen is the average height of a 9 month old (that was at her 6 month check up). Gretchen will be 7 months old in just a few days and she has 2 teeth poking through on the bottom! I can't believe that she is big enough to have teeth! Speaking of teeth, Nora went with me to the dentist today, in preparation for her first dental visit in April. She was so curious and I think that she is going to do great! Nora is also becoming very clutzy! I think that has to do with how fast she is growing, that and being cooped up...
Today we went to Gretchen's 6 month check up. She had to get three more shots which were not fun. She cried so hard when she got poked and then I picked her up and it was as if nothing had been done to her. She stopped crying and started smiling at the nurse. The ear infection that she was diagnosed with on Monday is already looking a lot better. He said there is no redness at all and very minimal fluid. Her weight is up to 17 lbs 8 oz, which puts her in the 78% for her age, and her length was 27 1/2 inches, which puts her in the 98% for her age! She continues to be way above average for her length. In fact she is the average length of a 9 month old! She still is not big on eating rice cereal and the Dr. suggested adding a little bit of applesauce to it to see if she likes that. Once she starts to do well with that we can begin to introduce sweet potatoes and other veggies. Gretchen finally rolled over both ways! She rolled over from her back to stomach while she was in her crib so...
I can't believe that it is already June 10. I feel like I blink and the day is over. So far this summer we are having a lot of fun. The really sad part is that we have been so busy, we haven't even been able to make it out to the family cottage, which we usually 'live' at during the summer! Nora keeps asking when we are taking our vacation to the cottage, which we started last year and had soooo much fun that we are hoping GiGi will let us vacation there every year! I made the mistake of telling her that we aren't taking our vacation until towards the end of the summer, so now she keeps asking "when is the end of summer coming, I want to go on vacation!" Well, I don't know about you, but I am not ready for the summer to end!! Things have been going pretty good for the family. Both Matt and I continue to be very busy with work, which is a wonderful thing. Luckily for me, I only work 3 days a week, so I get to be home with the girls a lot! Matt ...
